چکیده
Early film theorist Ricciotto Canudo equated cinema with music because of the Seventh Art’s inherent plasticity; in 21st century, plasticity extends to soundtrack. In this article, I explore fusion musical genre opera. By considering that is a performative medium, beyond actors’ agency, confirm music’s importance it as part structure and style Unlike Franco Zeffirelli’s adaptation Verdi’s opera Otello, Orson Welles’s William Shakespeare’s play conforms Jacques Aumont’s concept “operatic film” engenders coexistence verbal non-verbal, balancing drama intention. However, so musicalized operatically rendered, especially through its soundtrack, exceeds intention becomes what call “cinematic opera”: operatic artificial ritualistic nature well well-woven soundtrack music, sound effects voice working together common pattern.
